Overview of Hyatt Globalist Suite Upgrade Awards
If you're part of the World of Hyatt loyalty program, one of the most valuable benefits you can enjoy is the suite upgrade award. This feature allows Hyatt Globalist members to secure suite accommodations at the time of booking, making travel planning smoother and more rewarding.
Unlike many hotel loyalty programs, Hyatt is unique in allowing suite upgrades to be confirmed upfront, enhancing your travel experience from the get-go. In this guide, we'll explore everything you need to know about earning and using these coveted suite upgrade awards.
What Are Hyatt Suite Upgrade Awards?
Hyatt's suite upgrade awards are part of their Milestone Rewards program, designed to reward frequent guests. Members earn suite upgrades after achieving specific thresholds in qualifying nights or points accumulated in a calendar year.
With a suite upgrade award, you can lock in a standard suite at the time of booking for stays of up to seven consecutive nights, provided you book an eligible rate. This feature sets Hyatt apart by guaranteeing upgrades rather than leaving them to chance at check-in.
Eligibility and Earning Suite Upgrade Awards
To earn suite upgrade awards, you need to be an elite member of the World of Hyatt program. Specifically, you need to reach or exceed:
- 40 nights for 1 suite upgrade
- 50 nights for 2 suite upgrades
- 60 nights for 2 additional suite upgrades
- 70 nights for 1 more suite upgrade, plus every additional 10 nights up to 150 nights.
Lifetime Globalist members benefit further by automatically receiving an additional four suite upgrade awards each year. Remember, you can also earn elite nights through eligible spend on the World of Hyatt Credit Card.
How to Redeem Suite Upgrade Awards
Redeeming suite upgrade awards is straightforward but requires attention to detail regarding eligible rates. These awards can be utilized for:
- Paid eligible rates
- Hyatt Privé rates
- Points redemptions (Note: not valid on stays booked with free night certificates)
However, certain properties are excluded from this redemption option, including various Alila hotels, Andaz locations, and many Hyatt Centric and Regency properties. It’s crucial to verify whether your desired hotel is eligible before planning your stay.
Checking Availability and Using Awards
To see if you can use a suite upgrade award, ensure that a standard suite is available in the booking system. The suite description must explicitly mention, "This is a standard suite." If this requirement is met, you can book your suite upgrade confidently.
Redeeming your awards is not possible through online bookings. Instead, you can:
- Call World of Hyatt customer service
- Send a direct message on Twitter to @HyattConcierge
- Contact your Globalist Concierge
Maximizing Your Suite Upgrade Awards
To get the best value from your suite upgrade awards, consider the duration and destination of your stay. For stays longer than one night, particularly in resort settings, suite upgrades can significantly enhance your experience.
Moreover, potential double-upgrades into premium suites may be granted to those with Globalist status, depending on availability at check-in. However, note that these are not guaranteed.
