Editorial Policy
How we decide what to publish, and what happens when we get it wrong.
This site recommends financial products and tells people how to spend money and points. That only works if the reasoning is visible, so it is written down here.
How a piece gets written
Someone proposes it, someone else checks it, and every figure in it — an annual fee, a bonus threshold, an award rate — is traced back to the issuer or the programme before it goes out.
How cards are compared
A card is judged on what it earns and what it costs over a year of ordinary spending, not on the size of its welcome offer alone. Where a card is only worth it for a particular kind of traveller, the piece says which.
Advertiser independence
Some links on this site earn a commission, and that is disclosed on the pages where it applies. No advertiser sees a piece before it is published, and no commission changes a recommendation or an ordering.
Corrections
A mistake is fixed on the page and noted underneath it. Rates and offers move constantly, so pages carry the date they were last checked and older pieces are revisited in date order.
