Singapore Airlines (SIA) is set to elevate the travel experience with its latest investment of approximately US$1.6 billion, introducing luxurious new cabin designs across all four travel classes. These modern enhancements will first take flight in the second half of 2027, debuting on 41 retrofitted Airbus A350-900 long-haul and ultra-long-range aircraft, along with the new Boeing 777-9 fleet.
First Class Suites Offer Unmatched Comfort
The upgraded First Class suites will showcase innovative sliding privacy doors, enhancing seclusion for travelers. Each suite boasts an 80-inch long and 30-inch wide fully flat bed, alongside features that allow companions in adjoining suites to convert their seating into a shared space or even a luxurious double bed measuring 80 by 60 inches.
Passengers can enjoy dining together at a large table, equipped for face-to-face conversations and in-flight work. Each suite will also include thoughtful amenities, such as a personal wardrobe, a vanity drawer, and ample storage for personal items.
New bedding designed in collaboration with German company Paradies will ensure restful sleep with cotton linens, a duvet, pillows, and a breathable mattress topper designed to provide optimal comfort during long hauls.
Entertainment will feature a state-of-the-art 32-inch 4K touchscreen complimented by spatial audio and high-quality Bang & Olufsen wireless headphones. Travelers can also connect their personal devices via Bluetooth to the KrisWorld entertainment system.
Upgraded Business Class Experience
In Business Class, guests will find seats equipped with privacy doors, plush leather upholstery, and adjustable support systems. These seats can transform into 79-inch long flat beds, maximizing comfort during longer flights. Couples traveling together will benefit from an adjustable divider allowing them to create companion beds.
The newly designed Business Class table now folds at an angle, optimizing foot space for added comfort, while memory foam bedding enhances support throughout the journey, ensuring a restful experience.
For entertainment, Business Class passengers will enjoy 4K screens measuring up to 22 inches and a host of connectivity options, including USB-C ports, wireless charging, and universal power outlets.
Enhanced Experiences in Premium Economy and Economy Classes
Premium Economy will feature redesigned seats with 40 inches of pitch, a generous recline of up to nine inches, and 19 inches in width. Passengers will also appreciate refined cushioning, adjustable headrests, and various amenities such as storage compartments and USB charging ports.
The Economy Class on the Boeing 777-9 will receive significant updates, including improved seat cushioning, adjustable headrests, and additional space for legroom. The redesigned seats will also include updated reclining mechanisms and dedicated storage for personal items.
Economy Class travelers will have access to 4K screens up to 13 inches for their entertainment needs, along with Bluetooth connectivity to streamline their experience.
Investment in the Future of Travel
SIA’s ambitious cabin upgrade program spans all four classes on the Boeing 777-9, featuring six First Class seats, 54 Business Class seats, 36 Premium Economy seats, and 204 Economy seats. The retrofitting of the Airbus A350-900ULR fleet will also see the introduction of First Class for the very first time.
The airline conducted extensive feedback sessions with over 5,000 frequent flyers, passengers, employees, and industry experts to guide its cabin improvements. Insights regarding privacy, comfort, seating flexibility, and personalization drove the design of these innovative spaces.
Prestigious design firms collaborated on this upgrade, with PriestmanGoode designing the First Class spaces, while Designworks and Factorydesign focused on Business, Premium Economy, and Economy classes respectively. The seats are being manufactured by Collins Aerospace and RECARO Aircraft Seating, promising quality and comfort.
As part of SIA’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the long-haul passenger experience, the airline has also announced upgrades to the KrisWorld in-flight entertainment system and the introduction of Starlink Wi-Fi. Additionally, SIA will be featured prominently as a headline partner for the APEX FTE EXPO 2026, which will be held in Singapore this upcoming November.
