Explore Singapore's New Cat Hotels: What You Need to Know

Discover the rise of cat hotels in Singapore and essential tips for choosing the right boarding option for your feline friend.

In Singapore, cat lovers are witnessing a delightful trend: the emergence of various cat hotels that cater specifically to our furry companions. With innovative offerings, these establishments are redefining pet care and experience.

Types of Accommodations

These feline havens often feature whimsically named spaces such as suites, villas, and salons. Some accommodations boast loft designs allowing cats to explore vertical spaces, while others provide communal areas with stunning views, making every stay special.

Many hotels enhance the experience further with soothing instrumental music or entertaining wildlife videos, which keep the kitty guests both relaxed and engaged.

A Growing Market

Despite the increase in cat hotels, bookings can be hard to come by during peak travel seasons like school holidays and long weekends. The rise in options has not kept pace with demand. The total number of licensed cat boarding facilities surged from 35 to 47 between 2024 and September 2025, according to Jessica Kwok, director at the Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS).

Current statistics show that in Singapore, there are over 111,000 licensed pet cats after the implementation of a new cat licensing scheme. With changes allowing Housing Board residents to keep up to two cats, more families are likely embracing feline companionship.

Spotlight on New Entrants

Entrepreneurs are leaving their marks on this growing sector. For example, Neko Neko, which began as an online pet supply service, opened its fifth boarding location. The new facility in Holland Village offers four suites for up to four cats per household at $118 a night, complementing their grooming services.

PetPat, a grooming company, also expanded into boarding with two new outlets in Joo Chiat and Upper Thomson. Their services range from $45 to $72 per night, reflecting the growing demand for such facilities.

Then there’s the Sundays Cat Hotel & Resort, offering varied room types priced between $54 to $128, which tailored its services to include cats needing temporary care during their owner’s travel or home renovations.

Charlotte Ang and her husband founded Kuro Cat Hotel after struggling to find satisfactory boarding for their own cat. They opted to create a space that prioritizes comfort with 31 rooms, where rates vary from $60 to $120.

Choosing the Right Boarding Facility

Deciding on a cat hotel can be overwhelming. Here are some essential tips from experts to guide you:

  • Is it Cat-Only? Ensure the facility caters exclusively to cats to minimize stress and potential conflicts, especially if your cat is unaccustomed to dogs.
  • Facility Design: The design should be cat-friendly, with barriers between units to prevent direct contact, ensuring a calm and clean environment.
  • Visit Before You Book: Always tour the facility first. Observe the behavior of current residents, as relaxed cats indicate a well-managed space.
  • Prepare Your Cat: To reduce anxiety, familiarize your cat with its carrier and bring home-scented items to ease the transition.

Many cat owners, like Myrna Thomas, appreciate facilities where staff genuinely care for the animals, taking time to understand each pet’s unique preferences and needs.

The Future of Cat Hotels

With the increasing number of cat hotels, the market is evolving. Operators are optimistic, believing that each new entrant underscores how much cats are cherished as family members. As demand for specialized care continues to grow, more establishments are likely to pop up, providing improved experiences for both pets and their owners.
