Cordelia Cruises Launches New Ship from Mumbai, Expands Offerings

Cordelia Sky Sets Sail

Cordelia Cruises is proud to announce the launch of its latest vessel, the Cordelia Sky, which began its first guest voyage on October 23, 2026 from the bustling port of Mumbai. This marks a significant expansion for the cruise line, which is now operating two ships simultaneously from different home ports in India.

Expanding Itinerary Options

The debut of the Cordelia Sky expands the cruise line's domestic and international itinerary offerings. Passengers can now choose from various routes, including weekend getaways and longer trips to enchanting destinations like Goa and the picturesque Lakshadweep islands. International cruises to the Maldives and Sri Lanka are also available from both Mumbai and Kochi.

Jurgen Bailom, the president and CEO of Cordelia Cruises, expressed his enthusiasm about the new ship and its impact on travel options for Indian tourists. During a media event on board the ship, he stated, “Our vision has always been to make cruising a preferred holiday choice for Indians. With the addition of the Cordelia Sky, we now offer a broader range of destinations and itineraries.”

Employment and Growth Prospects

Bailom further noted the company’s ambitious plans for future expansions in line with India’s developing cruise infrastructure. He mentioned, “We anticipate that 27 new ports will be established, and we plan to operate in at least half of those locations with our future fleet.” Currently, Cordelia Cruises employs around 2,500 personnel both on board and on land, with a goal of increasing this number to 25,000 in five years.

Nishikant Upadhyay, CFO of Cordelia Cruises, highlighted the consistent demand for premium accommodations. The Cordelia Sky will offer an increased capacity of 1,002 staterooms, including 260 premium-category cabins. This enhancement allows the cruise line to cater more effectively to the growing interest in premium travel among its guests.

Experience Onboard

The Cordelia Sky is designed for comfort and entertainment, featuring a variety of amenities for guests. It can accommodate up to 2,280 passengers and includes numerous dining options, live entertainment shows, sports and wellness facilities, and expansive outdoor areas for relaxation and enjoyment.

With the addition of the Cordelia Sky, cruises will now offer various itinerary lengths, including:

  • Two-night voyages to Goa
  • Three-night expeditious getaways to Goa
  • Four-night adventures to Lakshadweep
  • Five-night journeys combining both Goa and Lakshadweep

Since its inception in 2021, Cordelia Cruises, operated by Leisure Tourism Limited, has successfully welcomed over 800,000 guests. This growth signifies the increasing popularity of cruising among Indian travelers and the potential for further development in the sector.

Additionally, corporate travel and events such as MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) and weddings are becoming essential segments for the cruise market, accounting for roughly 30 to 35 percent of the company's business, according to Bailom.

As the cruise line continues to flourish, the Cordelia Sky will play an integral role in shaping the future of cruising in India.
