Alaska Airlines Expands with 10 New Nonstop Routes by 2027

Alaska Airlines continues to broaden its horizons with an ambitious expansion plan, launching ten new nonstop routes from late 2026 through mid-2027. This growth trajectory is buoyed by the carrier's recent accomplishments, including its debut in long-haul flights and the acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines.

New Nonstop Routes on the Horizon

The forthcoming rollout includes two routes set to commence in November 2026, followed by an additional two in December. The remaining six routes are scheduled for 2027, featuring both international and domestic options to facilitate travel over various distances.

Upcoming Flights in 2026

In November, Alaska Airlines will initiate daily flights linking Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) and Boise Airport (BOI) to the picturesque Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport (STS) in Santa Rosa, California. These regional flights will operate through to mid-April, utilizing Embraer E175 aircraft operated by Horizon Air and SkyWest Airlines.

December welcomes further additions, with new routes from Boise and Spokane heading to Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) in Honolulu. The Boise service will run daily until mid-March while Spokane will have flights until late April, both operated with mainline Boeing 737 aircraft.

Quotes from Alaska Airlines

Kirsten Amrine, Alaska's VP of Network Planning & Revenue Management, expressed enthusiasm for the expansion, stating:

"Whether you’re in Santa Rosa looking for a winter escape to the snow or sun, or a SoCal traveler looking for a convenient alternative to the region’s busiest airports, this expansion has you covered."

International Routes to Look Forward To

The highlight of Alaska's expansion in 2027 will be four new long-haul international routes from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). Two of these routes will connect Seattle with major cities in Europe, while the other two will reach Asia-Pacific destinations.

In May 2027, travelers can fly from Seattle to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) in France and Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport (ATH) in Greece. The Paris route will offer up to five flights a week during peak summer months, while Athens will maintain a schedule of three flights weekly.

On the Asian front, Alaska will initiate flights from Seattle to Kansai International Airport (KIX) in Osaka, Japan, with service starting in mid-May, operated four times a week aboard Hawaiian's Airbus A330-200. In June, the airline will also launch a new route from Seattle to Papeete in Tahiti, available three times a week.

Domestic Growth Continues

While international services are making headlines, domestic routes will remain essential to Alaska's operations in 2027. A new connection will link Portland International Airport (PDX) in Oregon with Yampa Valley Regional Airport (HDN) in Colorado, running twice a week in February and March using E175 regional jets.

Furthermore, Alaska plans to introduce a route from Seattle Paine Field International Airport (PAE) to San Jose Mineta International Airport (SJC) in California, with daily flights beginning in mid-April 2027 operated by Horizon Air's E175 jets.

This growing route network reflects Alaska Airlines' commitment to enhancing travel options and customer convenience, promising an exciting era for travel enthusiasts and loyal customers alike.
