Uber is moving deeper into travel with a new partnership that lets users book hotels directly in the Uber app via Expedia. Announced at Uber’s Go-Get 2026 event in Manhattan, the feature ties the ride- and delivery-focused app into lodging and other trip services.
Scope and rollout
Uber says the integration will make roughly 700,000 hotels searchable and bookable in the app, including in cities where Uber’s ride services aren’t available. Vrbo vacation rentals are slated to appear later this year. Uber also said rides will be integrated into the Expedia app.
Savings and Uber One perks
A primary selling point is price: many properties will be discounted, with some listings showing up to 20% off. Uber One members receive an additional 10% back of their booking value as Uber One credits; Uber One currently costs $9.99 per month. Example searches highlighted by Uber showed notable differences: a San Francisco Hyatt Regency listed at $349 on Uber versus $389 direct, and a Grand Hyatt shown at $186 versus about $207–$210 when booked directly. Uber estimated sample Uber One credit returns of roughly $53 and $91 on those stays.
Trade-offs: loyalty and support
Bookings made through Uber/Expedia won’t earn hotel loyalty points or elite-night credit (for example, World of Hyatt benefits won’t apply), which may matter to frequent guests. Also, because reservations are handled through Expedia, customer-service issues must be routed to Expedia rather than the hotel, which can add friction when problems arise.
Deeper-discount examples and promotions
Uber highlighted a dynamic list of about 10,000 hotels with at least 20% off and showed short-notice NYC examples exceeding 20% discounts. Another example cited a Fisherman’s Wharf hotel listed at $154 on Uber versus $173 direct, plus about $45 in Uber Cash for an Uber One member.
Product improvements and travel features
Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, who recused himself from negotiating the deal because of his prior 12-year tenure at Expedia, called the partnership a full-circle moment and said the company will iterate on the booking experience to get it right. Uber also expanded Uber One internationally so members can earn credits for rides and Eats while abroad (credits appear when users return to the U.S.).
New travel-focused additions include a Travel Mode with local recommendations and OpenTable access, and a Shop for Me option that lets a shopper pick up items from nearly any store and deliver to home or hotel. These moves position the Uber app as a more complete trip concierge, combining rides, food, reservations, local tips and now hotel bookings.
Bottom line
For travelers who prioritize price over hotel loyalty benefits, booking through Uber via Expedia can deliver meaningful savings and extra Uber One credit. The trade-offs—no hotel loyalty accrual and Expedia-handled support—are important to consider, but the integration significantly expands Uber’s travel footprint and adds functionality aimed at simplifying trips.
