Sixt has introduced Sixt One, a new U.S. loyalty program that moves to a spending-based model and lets members earn and redeem points for car rentals. The program is free to join and is available across Sixt’s global network of more than 2,200 locations in over 105 countries, including 100+ in the United States. New members receive immediate perks at select locations such as priority service lanes and app-based check-in.
How earning and redemption work
– Members accumulate two types of points: rental points for free rentals and status points for tier progression. Both are awarded on the base rate, mileage, and protection charges. Taxes and fees are excluded. Points are calculated in euros and typically post within a few business days.
– Earning rate: 1 point per 1 euro spent (about $1.15). Status points are earned at the same rate.
– Rental points can be applied toward bookings and, according to Sixt, can cover up to a seven-day rental when enough points are used.
– To redeem points, sign in to your account, choose a vehicle, and on the booking review page select the option to pay with points. You can choose how many points to apply; any applicable taxes, fees, surcharges, or add-ons must still be paid in cash or card.
– Rental points expire after 24 months of inactivity.
Partner earning options
– Sixt One lets members opt to earn partner airline or hotel points instead of Sixt rental points. For example, Delta SkyMiles credits 2 miles per dollar spent on qualifying Sixt rentals under the partnership terms.
– To switch earning preference, sign in, access the Sixt One section, select change rewards program, and pick the partner rewards option. When booking, choose which partner program should receive the credit.
Elite tiers and benefits
Status points determine tier level. Points are earned at 1 per 1 euro (excluding taxes and fees). The four tiers are:
– Silver (entry): free to join; includes member offers, app check-in to skip the counter at select locations, and priority lanes at select sites.
– Gold (2,000 status points): all Silver benefits plus 10% bonus rental points and up to a 10% discount.
– Platinum (4,000 status points): all Gold benefits plus 20% bonus rental points, up to a 15% discount, and eligibility for complimentary upgrades.
– Diamond (6,000 status points): all Platinum benefits plus 30% bonus rental points, up to a 20% discount, access to Diamond lounges at select locations (including LAX and some European sites), expedited VIP assistance, priority access to premium cars, refreshments/snack services, Wi‑Fi, and expedited check-in/checkout.
Status validity and grandfathering
– Earned tier status remains in effect through the end of the following calendar year (for example, reach Platinum in June 2026 and it is valid through December 2027).
– Members who held Sixt status before the program update will retain their existing tier provided their account is active and they enroll in Sixt One by November 2027.
Bottom line
Sixt One simplifies rewards by tying earnings to spending and adding a four-tier elite structure with increasing benefits. The program is free to join, offers immediate operational perks at many locations, allows points redemption for rentals (points expire after two years), and provides the option to earn partner miles or points instead of Sixt rental points.
