German leisure carrier Condor will add daily seasonal nonstop service between Chicago O’Hare (ORD) and Frankfurt (FRA) in 2027, increasing competition on a route already served by United and Lufthansa. The new service begins May 14, 2027, and runs through Sept. 12, 2027.
The route marks Condor’s 12th gateway across the U.S. and Canada as the airline continues to expand its North American footprint. Condor says Chicago is a strong market for both leisure and business demand and that the new link will give U.S. travelers streamlined access to Europe via its Frankfurt hub.
United and Lufthansa each operate daily flights on the Chicago–Frankfurt corridor; O’Hare is a major United hub while Frankfurt is Lufthansa’s primary European hub. Condor will compete directly with both carriers but can also feed connections from Frankfurt to numerous other European cities it serves, including Paris, Rome and Barcelona.
Condor plans to operate the route with Airbus A330neo aircraft. The jets feature a lie-flat business class with direct aisle access and an enhanced premium economy cabin offering extra legroom and upgraded amenities. Passengers on eligible Condor flights can earn and redeem points through the airline’s partner programs, though availability for award seats varies by route and date.
While Condor is not a member of one of the three large global alliances, it maintains partnerships with several carriers and their loyalty programs, including arrangements with Alaska Airlines and JetBlue TrueBlue, among others.
The launch coincides with Condor’s move of Frankfurt long-haul operations into the airport’s new Terminal 3, which the airline says will shorten walking distances and improve connections between long-haul and intra-European flights.
Practical details: service is scheduled as a daily seasonal rotation from May 14 to Sept. 12, 2027, onboard A330neo equipment. Travelers should check Condor and partner airline schedules and award charts for the latest booking, mileage-earning, and seat-availability information.
